Xocai Healthy Chocolate

Do you love chocolate? If so, you are in for some great news! I've discovered a chocolate that is actually good for you! It's called Xocai (Pronounced sho-sigh), and it combines the finest 70% non-alkalinized dark chocolate with a concentrate of blueberries and the Amazonian super-food called Acai (Pronounced Ah-say-ee).

Did you know that dark chocolate is one of the richest sources of bioflavenoid anti-oxidants on the planet? Three small nuggets (one daily serving) of this incredible chocolate provide more anti-oxidants than 7 cups of spinach!

The anti-oxidants in any food are measured by its capacity to absorb free radicals. ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) values, as determined by the US Dept. of Agriculture, measure the capacity of a food to absorb oxygen free radicals. To give you an example of the power of chocolate, acai and blueberries as compared to other foods, per 100 grams the ORAC of dark chocolate is 13,120. Acai berry is 18, 500. Blueberry is 2,400. Red grapes have 739, cherries have 670, Broccoli contains 890.

If you have read the Pro-Active Protocol for Breast Cancer Prevention, you know that preventing free radical damage through a high intake of anti-oxidants is one of the primary strategies for preventing damage to and mutation of DNA, which can lead to cancer.

Studies have been done linking dark chocolate consumption to reduction in heart disease, diabetes (YES! Diabetics can safely eat Xocai!), stroke, hypertension, high cholesterol, cancer, depression and PMS. Dark chocolate is also one of the richest sources of magnesium in the world. Menstrual cramps (and any other kind of cramps) can often be relieved by magnesium. Now you know why the female body instinctively craves chocolate during menses!

Milk chocolate, which is full of sugar and milk solids, and has a very low percentage of real chocolate, does not confer the same benefits. And ordinary dark chocolate, while better than milk chocolate, will often contain paraffin, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated trans-fats and preservatives, which offset its healthy benefits.

Xocai contains only dark 70% chocolate, concentrates of acai and blueberry (these are powdered and do not affect the flavor of the chocolate), raw cane juice and cocoa butter. And it is absolutely delicious!

There is only one drawback to Xocai: it isn't cheap. The cost is similar to Godiva, or other fine chocolates. However, I have firmly come to believe that it is worth every penny!

We all crave a comfort food now and then or a taste of something sweet after a meal. But most goodies are not good for our health (or our waistline!) Each Xocai nugget contains only 70 calories, but is packed with anti-oxidants and an ORAC rating of 3120! They are intensely satisfying! I find I can usually only eat 1 or 2 and then I've honestly had "enough".
